Quebec Provincial Tax Brackets 2026

Quebec's 2026 provincial tax has four brackets: 14% on the first $52,816, 19% from $52,816 to $105,616, 24% from $105,616 to $128,520, and 25.75% on income above $128,520. Quebec's basic personal amount is $17,527, and the province administers its own income tax directly through Revenu Québec — residents file two separate tax returns each year.

Quebec operates a distinct tax system within Canada. The province runs its own parental insurance plan (QPIP) in place of federal EI maternity and parental benefits, which means Quebec residents pay a reduced federal EI premium rate of 1.27% (vs. 1.63% elsewhere) and contribute separately to QPIP. Federal tax for Quebec residents also benefits from a 16.5% federal abatement — a reduction of basic federal tax — which partially offsets Quebec's higher provincial rates and reflects that Quebec funds many programs federally delivered elsewhere.

Once the federal abatement is factored in, Quebec's combined top marginal rate for employment income is approximately 53.3%. Quebec offers numerous refundable tax credits — including for childcare, solidarity, and housing — that can meaningfully reduce the effective tax rate for many households below what the marginal rates suggest.
